Patient Online Services

New contractual requirements came into force from 1st April 2014 requiring that GP practices should make available a Statement of Intent in relation to the following IT developments:
  1. Electronic Appointment Booking
  2. Online Booking of Repeat Prescriptions
  3. Patient Access to their GP Record
  4. Summary Care Records (SCR)
  5. Electronic transfer of patient records (GP2GP)
Electronic Appointment Booking

Practices should promote and offer the facility for patients to book, view, amend, cancel and print appointments online.

The facility for patients to book, view, amend and print appointments online is available.

Online Booking of Repeat Prescriptions

Practices should promote and offer the facility for patients to order online and view and print a list of their repeat prescription for drugs, medicines or appliances online.

Longsight Medical Practice provide this facility. Please ask our Reception Team for more information.

Patient Access to their GP Record

Practices should promote and offer the facility for patients to view online, export or print any summary information from their records relating to medications, allergies, adverse reactions and any other items agreed between the practice and patient.

Longsight Medical Practice provide this facility. Please ask our Reception Team for more information.

Summary Care Record (SCR)

Practices are required to have processes in place to automatically upload any changes to a patient's summary information to the Summary Care Record (SCR) at least once every working day.

Having your Summary Care Record available will help any healthcare professional treating you without your full medical record. They will have access to information about any medication you may be taking and any drugs that you have a recorded allergy or sensitivity to.

Longsight Medical Practice went live with Summary Care Record uploads on 9th December 2013 and can confirm that any changes to a patient's summary information are uploaded to the Summary Care Record at least once every working day. However, if you do not want your medical records to be available in this way then you will need to let us know by filling in and returning an Opt Out Form

so that we can update your record. Opt-Out Forms are also available from the Reception Team here at Longsight Medical Practice.

Electronic Transfer of Patient Records (GP2GP)

Practices should utilise the GP2GP facility for the transfer of all patient records between practices where patients register/de-register.

It is very important that you are registered with a doctor at all times. If you leave your GP surgery and register with a new GP, your medical records will be removed from your previous doctor and forwarded to your new GP by NHS England, although it can take several weeks for your paper records to reach your new surgery. With GP to GP record transfers, your electronic record is transferred to your new practice much sooner.

Longsight Medical Practice can confirm that GP2GP transfers are already active and we send and receive patient records via this system.
